Pipper Standard is excited to announce that we have received multiple patents from the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of the People's Republic of China for our natural cleaning technology.

BANGKOK–Pipper Standard, one of Asia’s leading brands of natural household cleaning products, was recently granted multiple patents by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of the People’s Republic of China for its Fermented Fruit Technology.

The most recent patent was issued in November 2018 and together with an earlier patent granted in June, covers cleaning compositions, softening compositions, methods of making and methods of use, and collectively represent 102 legal claims. These patents follow multiple other patents previously awarded to the company in the United States, Europe, and Singapore.

“China has a rich tradition of technological innovation, and we are enthused to be part of it with our latest patent,” said Peter Wainman, Chairman and CEO of Equator Pure Nature Co., Ltd. (EPN), manufacturer of Pipper Standard products.

“For centuries, China has been renowned for its technological advances, including in paper production, silk making, navigational compasses and more. Pipper Standard is pleased to join this tradition with our revolutionary natural cleaning technology in the consumer products space,” Wainman added.

“Our patented natural cleaning technology puts us at the forefront of the global movement away from potentially dangerous and harmful chemical cleaners towards safe, natural, non-toxic products,” Wainman said.

Pipper Standard products are made from a unique pineapple fermentation process that yields powerful, natural enzymes and biosurfactants. The brand’s range of natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and biodegradable certified products—including laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid and floor cleaner, among many others—has been extensively tested to clean comparable to chemical products.

In total, the company has patents issued or pending in countries comprising approximately 70 per cent of the world’s GDP, including major Asian markets. The European Patent Office granted Pipper Standard multiple patents in May 2018.

“To our knowledge we are the only natural cleaning brand in the world with patented technology,” Wainman said.

With asthma and allergy rates skyrocketing globally—including in China—consumers are increasingly aware of the chemicals they use daily. In China, 33 per cent of the population (more than 460 million people) now suffers from allergies, according to the World Allergy Organization. And approximately 41 per cent of young children living in China’s urban areas have allergies, according to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

These sharply increasing rates of asthma and allergies have been linked to chemicals, pollutants and rapid urbanisation.
