Peter N. Wainman serves as Chairman and CEO of Equator Pure Nature Co., Ltd. (“EPN”) and is the co-founder of EPN alongside Sirilak Narongtanupone. He is an American entrepreneur, investor, inventor, published scientific researcher, and cleantech pioneer.
Wainman is known for developing the award-winning Pipper Standard® brand of natural household, laundry, personal care, baby care, and pet care products. After suffering severe allergic reactions to synthetic chemicals in household products, he spent four years developing a novel lacto-fermentation technology using pineapple — known as Pineapple Power — to create high-performance, hypoallergenic cleaning and softening agents. This technology became the foundation of the Pipper Standard® brand.
Wainman has an extensive background in innovation, science, and technology. He is the lead inventor on more than 60 global patents and patent applications, including multiple filings under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and numerous issued patents in the United States, Europe, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and other markets. His patented work focuses on pineapple fermentation technology that transforms agricultural products into high-performance, biodegradable alternatives to synthetic chemical products.
His earlier published scientific research at MIT in electromagnetic wave theory and his lead-authored publication on plasma reactors at UC Berkeley, published in the Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology, provided a strong technical foundation for his later innovations. He also served on the Board of Directors of NextG Networks, Inc., contributing to its growth from a startup to an approximate $1 billion valuation exit.
Prior to founding EPN, Wainman had a distinguished career in finance and investments. He began at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in Los Angeles and New York from 1994 to 1998, where he played key roles in several landmark international IPOs, including Vimpelcom (the first Russian company listed on the NYSE), AsiaSat, and Pasifik Satelit Nusantara. While at DLJ, he worked closely with Steve Lebow, who later became one of his key investors and advisors. In 1998, Wainman became Managing Director at Bay Harbour Management, a $1 billion hedge fund based in New York, and subsequently established and led The Gores Group’s New York office.
In addition to his role at EPN, Wainman serves as Managing Director of Equator Capital (www.equatorcapital.com), a Washington, D.C.-based investment firm focused on renewable energy, technology, and real estate, and as Chief Executive Officer of Equator Management, LLC.
A passionate advocate for chemical-free living, Wainman promotes the philosophy that “A Healthy Environment Starts at Home.” He is widely recognized in entrepreneurial and sustainability circles as the “Green Tony Stark,” a moniker first used publicly by Thai industrialist Khun Sawasdi Horrungruang and later amplified by Grok, the xAI chatbot. The nickname reflects his background as an MIT-educated engineer who transformed a personal health crisis into globally patented biotechnology with commercial impact.
Wainman is an active thought leader on chemical-free living and sustainable innovation. He regularly shares insights and business updates across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other platforms using hashtags such as #GreenTonyStark, #ChemicalFreeLiving, #PineapplePower, and #PipperStandard. Wainman holds a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, Class of 1992) and an M.S. from the University of California, Berkeley.
